I cant believe I survived last week. We got two kids ready for school, with all their winter dress on, and all the extra dress packed up, and out of the home by 8 am so that I can drop them both and be in office by 9 am. Both were screaming, Daya sad that he has to go back to school after 10 days of happy home time with family. Divya was super excited the first day morning though (we have built up the idea of schooling so much, and she also is grown up enough to love the idea of school!) - but then the moment I had to leave her and depart - ofcourse drama began! The next day ofcourse is tougher ... and tougher ... Getting two kids to wake up, have breakfast, fight their emotions against school, dress them up and out while it is below zero outside is crazy, craaaazzzyyyy insane. We were so exhausted by Friday, that we reached Divya's school and realized we didnt bring her school bag ... and only the previous evening the teacher had complained she still needs this and that and we had packed it all well and left it at home!
Then we reached Daya's school and wondered 'my goodness we didnt bring his bag too?' - but then the really funny part was when I arrived at his school cubby and found that his school bag was still there, not to mention his pants and thermals that he had peed on the previous day! So we were actually floppy from previous evening ... So Prakash decided he will go home pick up everything and drop them in school ... and I reach my office and settle down and realize I didnt bring my lunch! Yes Prax had made yummy sambar and poriyal the previous evening - which was the highlight of the week! I ate so much I slept like kumbakarna - may be that shows why all was messy friday morning. So I decided I would give a break for Prax, and invited him for a lunch date on email - after all I didnt bring my stupid lunch that takes 5 seconds to make (bread and cheese and lettuce!) ...
The afternoon went better and thank God it was Friday. It was absolutely gorgeous and beautiful too - the weather came just above zero for the afternoon, sky was blue and sunset was awesome painting the sky with beautiful hues of orange with pink. I saw the moon already well up in the sky and realized it would be full moon soon! Wow it would be thiruvathirai soon! Took a long walk from where I got my data back to my office - and it felt great to be out in fresh air with myself for so long ... Little luxuries of life!
I also thought how beautiful that the keralites dance - do their kali - meaning dance (so kathakali - is story-dance eh?!) standing in the water - breast high - and beat the water to a rhythm - called thuli dance - for the thiruvathirai which still holds the concept of cassiopeia in the milky way with her breasts, but becomes a very happy social ritual for women! The actual kerala ritual includes swing time too! I have begun to have fun with rituals - they are ofcourse somewhat meaningless - sometimes bizarrely too far away from the original concept - but still how beautiful that we decide to enjoy life, dancing and eating and celebrating and having fun, blame it all on a non-existent god!!! and hold a dense scientific concept too! And is this the dance that Shobana does in that super thalapathi movie song?!!! ...
